A pauldron was a stiff shied of plate armor which protected the shoulders and neck off the man at arms or knight which wore it. It often arose from the shoulder to block any opposing sword blow that might have otherwise left the man without his head. They were sometimes featured on only one side, the weak side, and this inspired the look of this ring, a stiff shield, protecting the turquoise. This ring can be worn on any finger but is meant to be worn on either the pinky, or the index for the best look.
